Med Mal Lawsuits – September 2016

By Byron Warnken

Medical Malpractice Lawsuits in Maryland, September 2016

There were 21 medical malpractice suits filed in the month of September. There were 10 suits against hospitals, and 11 against individual practitioners.  This post supplies the data for the hospitals sued, including plaintiffs, lawyers, and any existing co-defendants, along with the individual practitioners and other entities.  Medical malpractice is sometimes labeled “medmal,” or “other tort,” when cases are filed.  Hospitals are often linked together as co-defendants, especially if a doctor practices at more than one location.  With the number of patients being seen on a daily basis, the low number of suits being filed reflects the complexity of med-mal cases.

This post does not include medical malpractice lawsuits in Prince George’s County or med mal suits in Montgomery County.
