January Baltimore Area Medical Malpractice Lawsuit Statistics

By Byron Warnken

In total, there were only 19 medical malpractice lawsuits filed in the greater Baltimore area in January.  This includes Baltimore County, Baltimore City, Carroll County, Howard County, Harford County, and Anne Arundel County.  (Note: this means suits labeled medical malpractice; if the suits were mislabeled, they would not be listed here.)

Only 19 Lawsuits

Of the January medical malpractice lawsuits, a full six of them have different case numbers but various combinations of the same two attorneys (Paul Vettori and Glenn Mintzer) and the same defendants.  It appears this is another stent case involving cardiologists.  Putting those suits together, there were only fourteen different med mal lawsuits in the aforementioned counties.  Of the fourteen suits, only twelve different plaintiffs’ lawyers had their name attached to a lawsuit.

January’s Busy Med Mal Lawyers

Jon Schochor was the attorney on six of the fourteen lawsuits.  Forget Florida, this guy wants to work!  Scott Kurlander was co-counsel on two of the suits, James Cardea on another two.  Those medical malpractice lawsuits were filed in Carroll County, Baltimore County, Baltimore City, and Anne Arundel County.

January’s Medical Malpractice Defendants

Hospitals sued among the fourteen suits included St. Joe’s (now part of University even though the lawsuits might not be), Johns Hopkins, Hopkins Bayview, and Baltimore Washington Medical Center.

Among other defendants included cardiologists Drs. Wang and Mastali, Kaiser, Dr. Amandeep Singh, Dr. Robert Hoofnagle, Advanced Radiology, and Concentra.

That’s the quick run down on January’s medical malpractice lawsuits.  Later this week we will review the workers’ compensation appeals around the Baltimore area.

By Byron Warnken

If you are an attorney or otherwise sophisticated in the law or business, you read the headline above and say, “Duh.”  Of course the Baltimore’s biggest law firms serve businesses.  Same is true everywhere for that matter. The Judiciary is for Sale in My America??

By Byron Warnken

I’ve always been close to the legal profession.  My father is a lawyer and a full-time law professor.  My mother is also a lawyer.  So is my sister.  I do hate to admit it, but I have a naive sense of the role of justice in our society. I believe that the courts stand above. […]

Peter Angelos Still Works Cases?

By Byron Warnken

InjuryLawyerDatabase.com went from algorithmic updates to hand updates within the last few months.  A smattering of the updates come across my desk.  Actually, they do the modern day equivalent and pipe through my inbox.  I’m seldom surprised by what I see.  If I thought a lawyer was busy and handling a lot of car accident […]

November Maryland Circuit Court Statistics

By Byron Warnken

Medical malpractice lawsuits, or the lack thereof, is what stood out in November.  There were only 21 different medical malpractice lawsuits filed in Maryland in November. The number seems smaller than one might otherwise guess. Well known defendants include Frederick Memorial Hospital, Northwest Hospital Center, Emergency Medicine Associates, PA, Franklin Square Hospital, Peninsula Regional Medical […]

It might be time to start sweating Briggs Bedigian. If you don’t know who he is, you don’t really know medical malpractice lawyers in Baltimore. […]

MTA Lawsuits are Plentiful

By Byron Warnken

I’ve been curious about the frequency of lawsuits against the MTA (the Maryland Transit Administration).  When I saw the story of the instigating bus driver in the news, I couldn’t help but look a little further. The MTA Should Be Ashamed On October 9th 2014, Karen Murphy, a former Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) bus driver […]
