Union Memorial Hospital in the news

Recently, in March 2019, MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center was ordered to pay $35 million to the United States. MedStar was reported to have paid kickbacks to MidAtlantic Cardiovascular Associates (MACVA), a cardiology group based in Pikesville, in exchange for referrals to Union Memorial and Franklin Square Hospital. This action by MedStar is in violation of the False Claims Act, and it is dangerous as patients would be given unnecessary treatments, which could negatively effect their health, just so the hospitals could make money.
