FAQs

What is the Injury Lawyer Database?

Injury Lawyer Database is a new tool for finding the right lawyer for your case. We use public data filings as the source to publish litigation statistics on lawyers and defendants. If you need help with data interpretation or selecting a lawyer, please contact us.

What is the Source of the Information?

The data and statistics come from the Maryland Judiciary, ostensibly from the Maryland Case Search website.

How is this different from Maryland Case Search?

The Injury Lawyer Database aggregates data to come up with totals for attorneys and defendants.  In addition, Maryland Judiciary Case Search results do not appear in search engine results, while our pages do.

I see small differences between Maryland Case Search and the Injury Lawyer Database. Why?

There are a number of reasons for differences between the results.  First, we only track cases for which the lawyer was plaintiff counsel.  Therefore, if an attorney spent time on the defense side, as many did, those results are not included.  Second, Case Search often lists the same case twice, we do not.  Third, we update the site less often than Case Search.  We generally update weekly, while Case Search is daily.  Finally, we only include Circuit Court cases, while Case Search has District Court as well.

How Accurate are the Results?

The results are a near mirror image of the Judiciary’s data, except aggregated.  However, we claim no more accuracy than Maryland Judiciary Case Search does.  MDJCS says results may be limited in time, scope, history, and reliability.  We incorporate, by way of reference, that which MDJCS says.  For more information, please see our MD case search blog post.

I See that Lawyers can "Buy Their Page" on the site. Do you let them change their statistics?

No.  No attorney may change their page, no matter what advertising he or she does with us.  Attorneys may provide commentary for their page.  The reason is important: Our results are only based on Maryland circuit court cases for which they are listed as plaintiff counsel and for which a lawsuit was filed.  This means out of state cases, district court cases, federal cases, and cases settled before filing suit are not included in the results.  We encourage attorneys to share their experience in these matters.

Why Do You List Defendants?

If you have a potential lawsuit against a defendant in Maryland, we thought it would be beneficial to see how often the defendant was sued, and what the common results were.  We wanted such results to appear in search engines.  Moreover, we wanted you to know the attorneys who have success against those particular defendants.

What if I Cannot Find the Right Lawyer for my Case Just from the Statistics?

Please feel free to contact us at any time for assistance in selecting the right attorneys.  Not only have we published the statistics, we have studied them as well.  We know who gets results.
